Would you like to master the art of preparing tasty dishes at home? Do you want to gain practical skills in kitchen and home management?


Enroll now for the Executive Home Management short course (EHoME). This is hands-on cooking and home management course taught by experienced instructors from the School of Tourism and Hospitality in Strathmore University. The modules are very conveniently structured.

Key focus areas - Cookery

  1. Breakfast items: pancakes, cooking eggs, bacon & sausage
  2. Meat cookery-beef: beef cuts, cutting & marinating, stewing, frying, grilling
  3. Potato cookery: sautéing, lyonnaise, wedges, chips, bhajia
  4. Meat cookery-chicken:  portioning chicken, marinating, roasting, frying
  5. Cooking Starches & vegetables: rice dishes, pasta dishes, chapatis,vegetable salads
  6. Tea snacks and Salads: muffins,tea scones, cookies, doughnuts
  7. Fish cookery: Marinating, fish fingers,grilling, baking
  8. Meat cookery-Pork: cutting, marinating, coating, grilling, pan-frying, Roasting
  9. Cooking with minced meat: burgers,Samosa, Meat balls
  10. Just baking: Flaky pastry, meat pies, sausage rolls

Key focus areas - home management

  1. Living hygiene & food safety in the Kitchen: personal hygiene, food hygiene, kitchen hygiene
  2. Laundry process: identification of fabrics, interpreting care labels, stain removal
  3. Cleaning the house: daily cleaning living room and bathroom, polishing furniture
  4. Laundry process: washing cottons and linens, finishing
  5. Planning family meals: balance, variety, quantity
  6. Food and beverage service: table setting, buffet planning and preparation, hosting and serving alcoholic beverages
  7. Menu planning for parties: get-together parties, children’s’ parties, birthday parties

Program delivery

The program is offered in either Friday or Saturday sessions. The sessions are offered from our well equipped kitchen.


Friday sessions: 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm

  • October 6th,13th, 27th
  • November 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th
  • December 1st, 8th, 15th

Saturday sessions: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

  • October 7th, 14th, 28th
  • November 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
  • December 2nd, 9th, 16th



Those who complete the full course (a total of 10 sessions) will receive a certificate.

Your investment


Cost for the full course is KSh 20,000. If you opt to attend selected sessions then the cost is KSh 2,500 per session. Payments can be made directly at the cashier’s office, Strathmore University or via Mpesa Paybill No. : 400222 - Account No. 1059#1010. Please present the receipt to the STH office.


To secure a space, make a commitment/application fee of Ksh 5, 000 which is deductible from the total fee.


The fee covers both tuition fee and the cost of the practical sessions' materials.
