Top on the list of Strathmore University’s qualities, is the sparkle of its facilities all through the year. The stars behind this spick and span, are the dedicated and illustrious housekeeping staff of committed to deliver this magic in Strathmore’s true spirit of service.
It is no wonder therefore, that Stella Marinday, a housekeeping supervisor was able to impress the selection panel and bag this year’s Esther Kidambi Scholarship. Stella is described by her colleagues as a dedicated, hardworking, calm, reliable and flexible staff member. She joined the university in March of year 2014, in-charge of housekeeping at the Strathmore Business School, Management Science Building, Library and the Medical Center buildings.
With gratitude for the new scholarship, Stella will now be able to further her education at the School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH) where she is set to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Management. She holds a Diploma in catering and accommodation services and hopes to enhance her management and leadership skills in order to improve her output at the university. Stella is also particularly keen on championing the Strathmore spirit of service, as she is commits to emulate the example of the late Esther Kidambi who lived the same.
The Esther Kidambi Scholarship is a full-tuition fee Strathmore University Scholarship that was established in loving memory and honor of the late Ms. Esther Kidambi. Until her demise in November 2015, the 33 year old Esther Kidambi served at Strathmore’s catering department, where she met her death during a security drill while serving at the student center building. She had served Strathmore since August 2012. Esther was described by her colleagues as a hardworking, calm and collected lady with an infectious smile.
The Esther Kidambi scholarship is available annually in perpetuity to one qualified catering or housekeeping department staff, to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at STH. Applications can be made all year round at the Financial Aid Office.
