Strathmore School of Tourism and Hospitality

Calm, collected, ambitious, reliable, and hardworking, are just but some of the many positive attributes that describe the Pioneer Strathmore University Esther Kidambi Scholarship Award Winner – Rosemary Njoroge. Rosemary is an Events Supervisor at the University’s Cafeteria Department, and has served the University for the last 5 years staring as a Waitress in June 2011 before her promotion in June 2013 to her current supervisory role.

 

Rosemary holds a Diploma in Food, Beverages and Service Management and has recently embarked on her Bachelor of Hospitality and Management journey at the Strathmore University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality, (formerly CTH).

 

She envisions that her new qualifications will enhance her leadership and managerial skills so that she can apply herself more wholesomely to the very dynamic hospitality industry. She also hopes to be an ambassador of Strathmore’s spirit of service. The Strathmore spirit of service was exceptionally lived by her former colleague; the late Esther Kidambi in whose honor the scholarship was established.

 

Strathmore University’s Esther Kidambi Scholarship:

Until her demise in November, 30th 2015, the late Esther Kidambi served at Strathmore University’s Catering Department. She died during the Strathmore University terror drill while serving at the university student center. She was 33 years old and had served Strathmore since August 15th, 2012.

 

Esther is described by her colleagues as a hardworking, calm and collected lady whose smile carried an infectious. May her soul rest in peace.

 

The scholarship

The Esther Kidambi Scholarship, is a full-tuition fee from Strathmore University Financial Aid Office, which was established in loving memory and honor of the late Ms. Kidambi. The scholarship is available every year in perpetuity to one qualified candidate, for a Bachelor’s Degree at the School of Tourism and Hospitality.

 

Who can apply?

Strathmore University Catering & House Keeping Departments’ Staff who qualify for a Bachelor’s Degree at the School of Tourism and Hospitality.

 

Application process

An Esther Kidambi Scholarship application form can be picked from the university Financial Aid Office, (FAO). The forms should be returned on a date advised by the Financial Aid office.
